With the recent Tsunami in Gizo, Scientology Volunteer Ministers head out from Sydney to give much needed aid to the community

In the morning of Monday the 28th of April, an under water earthquake, 8.1 on the Richter scale, created a Tsunami that flodded Gizo in the Solomon Islands. This earthquake struck about six miles beneath the sea, 25 miles away from the island itself. The quake was so close that there was no time to warn the residents of the incomming Tsunami and as a result, there were 28 deaths.

The Solomon Islands are an archipelago of nearly one thousand islands which are about 2000 kilometers north northeast of Brisbane, Queensland.

Although the quake was large and set off earth quake alarms from Tokyo to Hawaii, there was insufficient time to sound the warning in the small island of Gizo.

The Church of Scientology Sydney has fired its first volunteer Minister team who are now on the ground in Gizo assisting. The island has been levelled and a lot of assistance is needed. The communications are sparse and there is no email or regular services. We need at least 5 more Volunteer Ministers there right now and we also need donations to fund the team to get there and give relief.
