Scientology Volunteer Ministers Provide Disaster Preparedness Workshop in Bureau of Fire Protection

Legazpi City, The Phillipines: In 12 and 13 November, Asia Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour conducted a 2-day "Disaster Preparedness Workshop" to 17 personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection, Region V.

Henry Ligsay, the resource speaker who is in-charge of the Volunteer Ministers Philippines delivered the following topics: "Assists for Illnesses and Injuries", "Communication", "The Fundamental of Public Relations", "Targets and Goals" and "Basics of Organizing".

These subjects are included in the practical technology developed by the founder of Scientology L. Ron Hubbard. Something new appeared in 1950 when L. Ron Hubbard, who had traveled extensively in the Orient and had been educated in the Western sciences, broke though the barrier of ignorance that had stifled man's progress in the humanities. The result was an entirely new subject, Scientology, which means "knowing about knowing." From this, springs the Volunteer Minister program - in fact the idea was basically borrowed from the concept of the "Barefoot doctor of China" - who would administer help to ease the travails of Man.

In just the last decade the Volunteer Ministers have provided effective help at more than 70 disaster sites - from earthquakes, hurricanes and bushfires, to the ravages of war and the aftermath of terrorist attacks.

In the recent workshop, the firemen also trained on one of the Scientology Assists called "Nerve Assist". It is the action undertaken to help individuals obtain relief from immediate troublesome difficulties. It greatly helps the firemen who are working to contain the fire to be released from exhaustion and stress and can continue their work.

The following is a win from one of the participating firefighters who attended the workshop: "As a firefighter, Communication plays a major role in my life. It is a very important tool every day in everything I do. Now I can give attention to the smallest thing especially when I give help to people in times of calamities. I know it will make me happier. I learned how to be sensitive to other people's feelings and be able to help in times of pain and hardship. If time permits, I would go to your office and would like to take up a lot more topics especially that on marriage.

The workshop has awakened my senses as a Thetan. I was able to realize many things. Communication must be valued by all individuals and, that we should not take anything for granted. We will help build a better world and have a better environment with the proper use of communication. Indeed something can be done about it." - Mado Rempillo
