Bringing Help Where it is Needed
It is the role of religion to help people live a better life, even if the people they help are not of their faith. Scientologists™ are doing that on a huge scale. We have over 87,000 Volunteer Ministers who assist within the community helping people with problems in their marriage, work and family relationships. Using the Scientology Handbook – a practical book which details 19 chapters of the areas of living we all are involved in – morals and honesty, marriage, children, the technology of how to study, the answers to drugs, tools for the work places, the cause of suppression and more.
Scientology Disaster Response Activities
In addition to helping the ups and downs we all face in daily life, the Volunteer Ministers also respond to major disaster as part of the International Scientology® Assists team and Scientology Disaster Response teams. They mobilize at disaster areas, providing unique spiritual counselling for shock and trauma, in addition to being specialists at organizing in very intense situations.
Australian Scientologists spent weeks with the respective fire brigades in the New South Wales bush fires over the 2005/2006 holiday period, and more recently during the 2007 and 2009 Victorian bushfires.
Australian and New Zealand Scientologists spent up to 6 months in Aceh, Indonesia at South-East Asian tsunami, Australian Volunteers Ministers were at the Ground Zero in New York after 9/11. There were also trained Volunteer Ministers from Perth in Yogyakarta mid 2006, leading an internationally staffed relief team, helping thousands after the earthquake in this Central Java region. Teams were in the Philippines, helping survivors of the Typhoon Reming. And again, with the floods in the ravaged region of Aceh, we again had Volunteer Ministers helping this embattled people to recover emotionally and are also training their own social services to deliver the technology of Scientology assists, which works wonders. Scientology Volunteer Ministers are specialists in trauma relief and provide invaluable assistance to the shocked survivors, enabling them to recover so they can rebuild their lives.
